Audrey Laboz is a social work master's student and artist based in New York. She holds a B.S. in Media, Culture, and Communications from NYU Steinhardt and is currently pursuing her MSW degree at the Columbia School of Social Work, where she works directly with patients in clinical settings.
Audrey's professional journey encompasses a variety of roles. She has worked as a classroom instructor at a school for children with special needs and autism and as an administrative assistant for an interior designer. Most recently, she has worked as a school counselor at a public high school located on the Lower East Side, where she has provided therapy to a caseload of students in both individual and group settings. Audrey's interest in both social work and art is driven by a deep passion for unraveling the diverse narratives of individuals and understanding the profound impact their cultural and social environments have on their physical and mental health. With each distinct work experience, she has deepened her understanding of the intersections between culture, individual expression, and well-being.
Audrey’s artistic endeavors are deeply intertwined with her social work values. Through mediums such as painting, drawing, clay sculpture, digital art, video art, and photography she channels her creativity into exploring and understanding people's stories. Additionally, Audrey derives comfort from music for the same reason, whether she's engaged in drumming or simply enjoying leisurely walks immersed in melodies.
Audrey's overarching mission is to blend her love for art and creative expression with therapeutic practices, fostering environments of healing and resilience. Whether through her artwork, her social work endeavors, or a combination of both, her ultimate goal remains the empowerment and enhancement of individuals' well-being.
Audrey will now continue on her career journey this year working as a social worker in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital.
